By Sarah FitzmauriceBack to the beats: Madonna looked youthful but her eyes betrayed signs of ageing as she arrived in London earlier today
Less is more these days for Madonna.
The singer, who has built her career on an ever-changing image, seems to have settled on a new one: bare-faced woman in her fifties.
With almost no make-up, her hair scraped to one side and smiling broadly, she set off from New York on a flight to London.
And in contrast to many of her recent appearances, where she looked almost frighteningly youthful, this time Madonna looked a little closer to what she is – a well preserved 52-year-old mother of four.
The fine wrinkles around her eyes were more evident than usual, possibly due to the fact that she was wearing so little make-up.
And she was travelling with her two lively boys, David, six, and ten-year-old Rocco, which may have left her feeling frazzled before she even took off.
She maintains her lithe figure with a rigorous daily exercise routine, which lasts up to two hours, and a strict macrobiotic diet.Growing up: Madonna arrived into London Heathrow with her son David, who appears to have grown a lot in recent months
No doubt keeping up with her brood of four children helps keep her trim as well.
There is 14-year-old Lourdes, from her relationship with personal trainer Carlos Leon and Rocco, from her eight-year marriage to British director Guy Ritchie.
Then there is David Banda, adopted from Malawi as a baby by the singer and Ritchie, followed by Mercy, the little girl she also adopted from the impoverished African country.Young man: The five year old boy appears to have had a growth spurt in recent months. Strapping boys: Madonna, who is set to return to the recording studio next month, was also joined by her 11-year-old son Rocco
After finishing work on her movie W.E., which reprises the story of Wallis Simpson and is due for release some time this year, Madonna is said to have gone into the studios to record what will be her 12th album.
Maybe she has had more time to concentrate on her career recently.
She is said to have ended her latest romance – with 24-year-old hip-hop dancer Brahim Zaibat.

Kanye is the next victim in the charity game. Take into consideration Oprah's South African girls school, Madonna's Raising Malawi, and Paris Hilton's Halfway House, Kanye's charity called the Kanye West Foundation seemed to disappear out of thin air as well.
Maggie Neilson, a partner of Global Philanthropy Group talks about why charities seem to disappear so quickly..."either the wrong person ends up running it or the founder just loses interest...it's not just a celebrity thing at all. It doesn't happen with celebrities any more than average people who come into money."
Celebrities can have unique circumstances starting a charity that can threaten it in the long run before it officially launches. Just because of their status in society, celebrities feel pressure to start charities since non-profits are common nowadays. "But if you really don't care about it, there's no way it's going to last."
Kanye's charity has appeared to disappear out of think air. The Kanye West Foundation was about helping kids stay in school, especially in the bad neighborhoods of Chicago where he grew up. One of the causes may have been missing funds where the charity raised an average of $492,000 and made grants averaging $18,080 in the years 2007-2009, which doesn't seem to add up sufficiently.
Another cause that may have led to the disappearance of Kanye's foundation was the passing of his mother Donda nearly four years away, since she was the person who really pushed for the charity.
This shows that being a big celebrity or possessing lots of money does not guarantee a charity to survive. What matters is the effort that person puts to make a cause really known in society so it can survive and help inspire others involved.

As her sophomore release re-hits #1 on the U.S. album chart, Grammy winning gay favorite Adele is poised to dethrone Madonna as Britain's longest-running female album chart-topper.
Adele has matched Madonna's record with nine weeks at number one in the UK album chart - the longest for a female solo artist. Her second album, 21, has now spent the same length of time at the top spot as Madonna's first greatest hits record, The Immaculate Collection, in 1990. The Londoner's debut album, 19, remained at number two. Meanwhile in the singles chart, the singer's track Someone Like You climbed back up to number one. Earlier in the year she became the first living artist since the Beatles to have two top five hits in the UK single and album charts simultaneously.(Tipped by JMG reader David)
Lindsay Lohan will join the ranks of superstars in that she's dropping her last name. Yes, Lindsay Lohan will now be referred to as Lindsay ONLY...along with musicians Cher, Madonna, Prince, Rihanna, Beyonce. The thing that sets her apart, is that she is not known for her musical abilities (but anyone remember her song Rumors?!).
So much negative press has evolved around Miss Lindsay lately, that this is the least of her problems. She just seems to love being in the spotlight of media attention. After denying her plea deal and deciding to go to trial after her alleged necklace theft from a Venice boutique store, she should be focusing on getting her act together.
Although there's no official reason for Lindsay dropping her last name, it may have to do with her wanting to end the association with her father Michael Lohan who was charged with assault against his girlfriend and will be appearing on the next season of Celebrity Rehab. Not only will she be dropping her last time, but her younger sister Ali will take mother Dina's maiden name Sullivan as well.
For Lindsay being 24, she sure has been going through a lot lately. She shouldn't have to look for a name change to move forward in her career. In order for Lindsay to get her career back on track, she needs to lay low for awhile and look into roles that can prove she is worthy in Hollywood.

"There really is no one that is a more adoring and loving Madonna fan than me. I am the hugest fan personally and professionally...well, the good news is that I got an e-mail from her people and her, sending me their love and complete support on behalf of the single and if the queen says it shall be, then it shall be." - Lady Gaga, telling Jay Leno that Madonna has no problem with any seeming similarity between her latest release and Madge's 1989 smash, Express Yourself.
On the same day that Born This Way was released, Madonna fueled the comparisons when she quietly uploaded Express Yourself to her YouTube channel.
YouTube's Cheeks pokes fun at the Gaga/Madonna thing.
UPDATE: Oh, snap. Look what Madonna just posted.
