Contender for talk show crown
October 2, 2010
Since Oprah Winfrey announced that she will finish her daytime talk show at the end of this season, media companies have been scrambling to find a successor to the crown.
Time Warner has announced it has signed Anderson Cooper to star in his own one-hour daily talk show. He will also continue to anchor a prime-time show on CNN for ''years to come'' because the network has just extended his deal.
Cooper is son of the heiress Gloria Vanderbilt, and has experience as a news reporter on the US ABC network and on 60 Minutes, and as host of the reality series The Mole.
Other contenders to replace Winfrey, who is leaving to set up the Oprah Winfrey Network, include Dr Oz, Jenny McCarthy and Nancy Grace.
