Anderson Cooper Lessons Nutty Obama ‘Birther’ on Facts and Reality (video)

Anderson Cooper proved again this week that he’s a cut above the rest of the network news hosts in asking tough questions when he gave a lesson on facts to Obama birther and Texas State Rep. Leo Berman (R) who recently introduced a bill in the Texas House to “require any candidate for president or vice president…to show his or her birth certificate to the Texas secretary of state.”Berman introduced the bill because he claims “we have a president whom the American people don’t know whether he was born in Kenya or some other place.”
This exchange between Cooper and Berman starts off normal enough but quickly elevates to confrontation when Berman stumbles through his notes and begins quoting rumor and perpetuating old lies and stereotypes. At one point, Cooper accuses the state representative of basing legislation on “stuff that’s just rumors and stuff that’s been proven to be false.”
The more I see and hear these birthers, the more I am convinced that this nutty movement is based on nothing more than racism and bigotry.
