There is one explanation I heard about last night, that the birds got scared by the New Year's fireworks and flew into each other or into trees. I absolutely don't buy this theory. First of all, there have been New Year's Eve fireworks and 4th of July fireworks, and Heavens know how many other fireworks during a year and this has never happened. Second, the report is that the birds fell to the ground JUST before midnight; therefore, the fireworks could not have been fired yet!
I really hope they come up with some credible explanation... Perhaps former vice-president Dick Cheney and/or Sarah Palin were in the vicinity hunting... LOL
