Ontario: Bishop Raymond Lahey has pleaded guilty to possession and importation of child pornography. Lahey was arrested at the Ottawa airport after nervously denying that he possessed a laptop. Noting that his passport contained stamps from countries infamous for child pornography, customs agents confiscated a computer and a memory stick found to contain over 500 images of young boys being "enslaved and degraded." In 2009, Lahey had brokered a $15M settlement from his diocese to victims of molestation by priests, saying at the time, "I want to formally apologize to every victim and to their families for the sexual abuse that was inflicted upon those young people who were entitled instead to the trust and protection of priests of the church."
And yet as an evolution denier, he refuses to allow that the same thing happened 65 million years ago. UPDATE: Hang on, he DOES mention the dinosaurs/asteroid thing at 1:20 mark, which I didn't even hear the first time. Does Robertson now acknowledge that the world isn't 5000 years old?

Wisconsin: The Archdiocese of Milwaukee is accused of transferring $55M into a cemetery trust account in order to shield assets from suing molestation victims. The Archdiocese filed for bankruptcy in January and this week proposed settling 22 molestation suits at $700K each. In February a lawyer for the victims accused New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan of hiding $130M while assigned to Milwaukee in 2008.

Apple's censorship has nothing to do with "tolerance." This is about silencing anything and anyone who challenges homosexuality. Americans need to wake up and realize that religious liberty is heading in the same direction as Exodus's app-extinction! In this environment, it doesn't matter what the facts are. If they contradict the homosexual agenda, the Left will do everything it can to muzzle them. The radical Left demands that we hand over control of our nation, our families, our children, and our freedoms to them. They demand big government intervention in every area of life. Illinois: The Belleville Diocese of Southern Illinois is appealing a $5M molestation judgment, saying that they have zero responsibility to warn parishioners about known pedophile priests. In response, a local group of Catholic priests took the unprecedented step of denouncing the appeal as a "disastrous policy" that makes "no common moral sense." The judgment was ordered in the case of Father Raymond Kownacki, who has been sued numerous times for molestation, but has never been arrested due to the statute of limitations.
A federal judge has rejected a lawsuit filed by Pat Robertson which was intended to allow people to exempt themselves from buying health insurance because God is going to cure all their illnesses.
Three of the plaintiffs — Margaret Peggy Lee Mead of Hillsborough, N.C., Charles Edward Lee of San Antonio and Susan Seven-Sky of West Harrison, N.Y. — are Christians who said they want to refuse all medical services for the rest of their lives because they believe God will heal their afflictions. They say being forced to buy insurance would conflict with their faith because they believe doing so would indicate they need "a backup plan and (are) not really sure whether God will, in fact, provide," the lawsuit said.Robertson himself did not depend on the grace of Jeebus when he underwent ten hours of open heart surgery in 2009.

At the Catch The Fire conference in Virginia Beach, Pat Robertson invited people to declare what they need healed. "I got a dead baby, I want you to bring him back to life again. Whatever you need!" The most dramatic "healing" seems to be the woman who can once again taste her Dentyne.
Scam artist "faith healer" and mega-millionaire Pastor Benny Hinn is being sued by a Christian book publisher who says Hinn violated the "immorality" clause in their contract when he had an adulterous affair with fellow preacher Paula White.
In August, Hinn admitted to a friendship with evangelist Paula White after The National Enquirer published photos of them in Rome, holding hands. Hinn was married at the time. His wife, Suzanne, had filed for divorce a few months earlier. Three years earlier, Hinn had signed a three-book deal with Strang Communications Co. of Lake Mary. He was paid a $300,000 advance on the first one, "Blood in the Sand," according to the suit. Hinn acknowledged to his publisher "his inappropriate relationship" with White in August, according to the suit, and agreed that the publisher should get back its money, but he has yet to pay up.Hinn is estimated to be worth hundreds of millions, money largely scraped out of the Social Security checks of the gullible elderly and the desperately ill. He travels the world in a $36M personal Gulfstream jet in between stays at his numerous opulent mansions.
Saying the bill doesn't specifically target Gov. Rick "Medicare Fraud" Scott, Florida lawmakers have introduced a bill allowing voters to recall state-level elected officials. Many Florida cities and counties have recall mechanisms for local politicians, but there's no such ability at the state level.
If the legislation is approved, voters would have four months to circulate a recall petition throughout Florida. For statewide public officials, signatures would have to be collected in all 67 counties. If the signatures equal 15 percent of the total votes cast in the last election, then a recall election can be held. Public officials include the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, and a member of the Cabinet. Under the legislation, a petition can also be used to recall a state legislator. However, that petition would need signatures from the district the lawmaker represents. To have a recall election for that legislator, the signatures must equal 20 percent of the total votes cast in the last election for that office. Only voters from the district would be able to vote in that recall election.Purely by coincidence, the bill's filing came on the same day that Scott rejected billions in federal stimulus money meant to build a high-speed rail link between Orlando and Tampa. Scott's move infuriated legislators on both sides of the aisle and a bipartisan coalition has vowed to overrule him.
Keep his campaign promise, Florida Gov. Rick "Medicare Fraud" Scott has rejected $2.4B in federal stimulus money for a high-speed rail connection between Orlando and Tampa, a long dreamed of project for both cities' business leaders.
Scott's decision likely means those dollars will be rerouted to California and other states investing in a high-speed rail network that Obama has likened to the national highway system. Scott had previously said he didn't want the state spending any money on the rail line, which required $280 million in matching funds. But backers of the project have said that the consortiums of companies set to bid on the line had indicated a willingness to put up their own money in return for a contract. At his brief press conference, Scott went into little detail about how he made his decision, referring only generally to his conclusions about the current and future cost of the train. The state has spent about $66 million on engineering for the 84-mile system and was about to issue contracts for another $170 million.The money now goes to another state, tens of millions are now wasted on work already done, and tens of thousands of construction jobs have evaporated for Florida. It's the Tea Party way, people!
A Wisconsin lawyer representing victims of sexual abuse by Catholic clergy says he suspects that New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan hid $130M in church money in order to avoid paying molestation settlements. Prior to his present assignment, Dolan was Archbishop of Milwaukee.
The lawyer, Jeffrey R. Anderson, who represents clients in 23 lawsuits against the Milwaukee Archdiocese, said $75 million disappeared from the church’s investments in 2005. He said that $55 million more that had previously been unaccounted for appeared in a cemetery trust in 2008, and that the archdiocese claimed that money in that fund was protected by state law and could not be used for payouts. In an interview on Sunday, Mr. Anderson said that the first transfer coincided with a 2005 ruling by the Wisconsin Supreme Court that allowed abuse lawsuits to proceed despite a statute of limitations. He said the second transfer occurred around the time of a similar ruling in 2007. Archbishop Dolan led the Archdiocese of Milwaukee from 2002 to 2009, when he was chosen to lead the Archdiocese of New York.Last month the Milwaukee Archdiocese declared bankruptcy, a move being taken by several other dioceses in the face of similar lawsuits. The Milwaukee Archdiocese denies having hidden funds. Dolan is expected to be deposed over the Wisconsin allegations.
Remember when I told you about the financial scam being run out of Bishop Eddie Long's Atlanta mega-church? Yesterday he posted a video asking the operators of that Long-authorized scam to return one million dollars to his congregants. That way, presumably, they can turn the money over to its rightful owner, Bishop Eddie Long. The first comment on YouTube: "Hey Eddie Schlong, why don't you sell off those Lamborghinis, Rolls Royces, half of that jewelry and one or two of them damn condos and give the money to your parishioners?" The civil lawsuit filed by four young men who accuse Long of coercing them into sex is set to go to court on July 7th.

France: Father Antoine Videau has been convicted of stealing £2 million from church charity boxes intended for the poor. Videau used the cash to buy himself a Ferrari and take lavish Las Vegas vacations with his young mistress. Investigators found 28 separate bank accounts holding stolen parish money and discovered that Videau had also helped himself to £500,000 from the estate of a deceased archbishop.
